I started a real estate brokerage while attending DePaul University and looking for my own apartment when I noticed a lack of support for students in my situation. While still at DePaul I launched Renters Refuge, Chicago’s first student-focused real estate brokerage. During the same time the economy tumbled and buyers turned to renters and sellers to landlords. Two years after incorporating, the same week I proposed to my beautiful wife Jacqueline and was honored by a mention in the Wall Street Journal, Prudential Rubloff acquired Renters Refuge and a life outside of apartment rentals was born.
The same clients that trusted me to rent their investment properties gave me the opportunity to sell their spec homes. Education and understanding of the product is first and foremost. Proceeding is market understanding, service, reliability, and consistency. I learn everything possible about a home before I show it once and clients along with agents know what to expect when working with me.
This level of service has created a referral-based business that relies on the successful and beyond satisfactory completion of every transaction. My clients are my marketing team.
Our mission is comprised of two parts:
1. A company that provides unparalleled service with a level of local knowledge and information that can only be found from a rooted team that is working daily in the local real estate market.
2. A firm that gives back to the community not only monetarily, but through time and effort to reach everyone that can benefit through service, advice, instruction, and education throughout Chicagoland
Always changing and challenging. This business provides constructive challenges that test discipline, product and market knowledge, and marketing expertise. As much as the internet has leveled the playing field for this industry, it has removed many of the “old school” ways of doing business. Real estate will always be an information business, but foremost it is a person to person communication industry. I love the different opportunities it provides me to meet and help people to a beneficial end of all parties involved.
What I like best about real estate :
I see Chicago as a home that has it all, the key is... knowing where and how to look for it. That's where I come in. Whether it’s staying abreast of the latest trends and hottest neighborhoods or searching for the right schools and the best farmers markets. I work at fulfilling people’s needs, wants, and desires in all aspects of my job. The part I have enjoyed the best has always been helping to match tastes with options and guide them through an experience that leaves them completely satisfied.
I have lived in Chicago for the last 14 years, getting to know the city by working in the restaurant and hospitality industry and real estate. I went to high school in the near Chicago suburbs and during this time, frequent trips into “the City” fueled my love for Chicago and Architecture. After college, at one of our great state schools, getting to Chicago was my main goal. With lots of extended family all over the US, over the years I have called Texas, Kansas, California, Missouri, and Georgia, home. This has given me a perspective that lends itself to understanding newcomers and life long Chicagoans alike. I currently live in Lincoln Square with my wife and two sons.
Born in the Ridgeland / Oak Park Historic District just outside the city, Mathieu Brown developed a love of real estate at an early age. After graduating from The Universtiy of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007, he spent years in public broadcasting prior to turning to real estate full time in 2011 and joining the Grafft Group in 2012. Mathieu brings a lifetime of insight and passion to this important step in your life. When not going the extra mile for his clients; you can find Mathieu at The Green Mill, cycling on The Lake Shore Path, or fiddling with his classic car.
Being a consultant that guides people through a major life-changing decision, tracking the residential and commercial development of regions across this great city, seeing the latest trends in home and interior design
I am a Chicago transplant by way of New Jersey and first moved to the area in 2006 to attend Northwestern University.
